1.  I am trying to do an Update from Internet and I am receiving a message that says "Update error (-5)". How do I correct this?

This error generally means that something is preventing Speed-Quote from connecting to the internet.

Please check your Firewall settings and confirm that Speed-Quote is allowed to connect to the internet.

Alternatively you may wish to use the File->Preferences menu in Speed Quote and select the Internet Updates tab. Here you should see that you are set to use either HTTP or FTP for downloading. Try switching from one to the other and run the update again.

2.  I am getting an error that says "Security Key not found" even though my HASP security key is plugged in. What do I do?

If you are using a Data Entry Edition server, only the server computer needs to have a security key attached. Otherwise, if you are not connecting to a server your computer needs to have a security key installed in order to run.

On the computer with the security key attached, you should download and install the latest Device Driver for the HASP security key.

Once this file has been downloaded, extract and run the EXE file to install the security key driver software.

Try running Speed-Quote again once the new driver has finished installing.

3.  I would like to export my "Master Entry Sheet" products to send to an Enterprise Edition user. How do I do this?

Please use the following steps to transfer your database:

  1. Go to the Tools menu in Speed-Quote and select Database Management
  2. Left click on the database you wish to transfer and select Save Products. You can choose whether to save All products, or just Selected products.
  3. Name the file and choose where you want to save it, then select Save
  4. Check Include Pictures if you want the product photos included. Please note that this will greatly increase the file size.
  5. Check Create XML tags for fields without data if you wish blank fields to be included in the file.
  6. Once you have selected the options you want, click OK
  7. You can send the resulting file to Speed-Quote Enterprise users by email (depending on the file size), by burning it to CD-ROM, or uploading it to an internet file server.

For instruction on loading the database on the destination computer, please see the answer to the next question - "4.  I have a Data Entry Edition database file that I received. How do I load this file into my Speed Quote Enterprise Edition?"

4.  I have a Data Entry Edition database file that I received. How do I load this file into my Speed Quote Enterprise Edition?

Please use the following steps to load the database:

  1. Go to the Tools menu in Speed-Quote and select Database Management
  2. Left click anywhere in the white section of the window, or on any existing database. Select Load Database -> Import Master Data from XML. You can select to load All products included in the file, or choose to only load Selected products.
  3. Browse to the database file you wish to load, and select Open
  4. If the database being loaded matches an existing one in Speed-Quote, you will be presented several options. If you do not wish to affect the existing database, select the Create New Database option. This option will allow you to set a new database name for the imported product information. Merge existing products with data in XML will add new products, and modify existing products with any information present in the XML file. Overwrite existing products with data from XML will add new products, but will also overwrite existing products using only the information contained in the XML file.

5.  How do I set up a field in Speed-Quote so that default information is filled in every time I create a new product?

Fill out the field in question with the information you wish to be set as default. Right click on the field and select the "Set Default" option. The field will now turn blue to indicate that a default has been set. Any time you create a new product the default information will automatically be filled in.

6.  I am trying to change the picture on my master sheet but Speed-Quote does not seem to recognize the picture. What is happening?

Pictures for use in Speed-Quote must be either .jpg or .bmp format. Speed Quote does not currently recognize any other type of picture format.
